
“UUCLR Presents…” is on its third speaker and still going strong! On Friday, June 7th, at 7:00 p.m., we will be welcoming State Representative Warwick Sabin (D).
State Representative Warwick Sabin will discuss the future of progressive politics in Arkansas. was ranked by Citizens First Congress as the most progressive state lawmaker in Arkansas based on his voting record in the recently-completed legislative session, and he will draw from his experience to explain how progressives can gain traction in the current challenging environment.
Warwick represents District 33, which includes the Hillcrest, Leawood, Briarwood, Hall High, Capitol View/Stifft Station, and Downtown neighborhoods of Little Rock, and has a particular interest in revitalizing the Downtown area. He has volunteered and served on the boards of directors for numerous community and nonprofit organizations and projects in Little Rock. Warwick is also known for his role as publisher of The Oxford American.
In 2009, he was named to the FOLIO:40, a list of the 40 most influential people in the national magazine industry. He is a Marshall Scholar and a Truman Scholar; he holds an M.A. in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Oxford University and a B.A. (summa cum laude) in Political Science from University of Arkansas, where he graduated as valedictorian and was president of the student body. He has served as director of development for the Clinton Foundation, and before that, he worked on Capitol Hill, at the White House, and at Foreign Affairs magazine. He was named to the Arkansas Business "40 Under 40" in 2003.
